Jennifer Weaver, DVM
Dr. Weaver is originally from North Carolina. She grew up with many rescue animals as pets and always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. She earned her undergraduate degree in animal science from North Carolina State University in 2011, graduating with honors. She went on to earn the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and concurrent Professional Certificate in Shelter Medicine from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016.
Dr. Weaver has practiced small animal medicine since 2016. She worked initially at a corporate clinic in North Carolina before her passion for shelter medicine and non-profit work brought her to Virginia, where she joined the team at the Richmond SPCA. At the SPCA she spent time performing HQHVSN surgery as well as a variety of other surgeries and split her time between shelter animals and those animals belonging to clients in the shelter’s low-cost public clinic.
She has worked in a relief veterinarian capacity since 2021, falling in love with the variety of pet owners, clinics, veterinary staff, and animals that she interacted with on a daily basis. She founded Dr. Weaver’s Veterinary Relief in January 2024. She has provided relief services to over 70 clinics in Virginia and North Carolina.
In her free time, Dr. Weaver enjoys spending time with her three golden doodles, three cats, and her husband. She and her husband enjoy traveling together and exploring new places. Dr. Weaver can also be found on the dance floor as a competitive ballroom dancer, competing several times per year around the country.
